Archive
Archivio Nanni Valentini was established by the will and initiative of Tina Augusta Terenzi Valentini in the aftermath of her husband’s untimely death on December 5, 1985, and thanks to the suggestions and contributions of Nanni Valentini’s many friends. The primary purpose of this undertaking is the preservation and promotion of Nanni Valentini’s work, through cultural and artistic initiatives aimed at the dissemination and understanding of his activities as an artist and teacher. Thus, the mission of the archive is the timely and orderly collection of Valentini’s entire oeuvre, including sculptures, drawings, writings, documents, testimonies and life experiences, and the creation of a catalog raisonné, in accordance with the times and themes that characterized the artist’s activity.
The commitment of the Archivio Nanni Valentini can be summarized by the following activities:
- cooperate with public, museum, and educational institutions on cultural and exhibition initiatives;
- promote historical research (i.e., documents, materials, experiences) on the artist’s life;
- catalog the works;
- authenticate and certify works;
- oversee copyright compliance for works and texts;
- promote and plan restoration work for the artist’s achievements;
- assure the preservation of works, book collection, autograph writings, photographic material, and publications.
